DJI’s Osmo Pocket 4P Reaches More Markets: What to Know

DJI’s dual-lens Osmo Pocket 4P is reaching more markets. The compact gimbal pairs a 1-inch wide camera with a 60mm telephoto lens, 10-bit D-Log 2 and 3-axis stabilisation.

DJI’s Osmo Pocket 4P is beginning to reach more markets after its initial China release, giving more creators access to the company’s dual-lens pocket gimbal. The point of the 4P is not simply that it is small: DJI pairs a 1-inch wide camera with a 60mm medium-telephoto camera in a body designed to be carried without a separate rig.

The availability change matters because the 4P had been a China-first product. DJI’s regional storefronts and authorised retailers will not necessarily offer the same configuration, price or delivery timing, so buyers should check their local DJI store rather than assume a global launch means immediate stock everywhere.

A pocket camera built around two perspectives

DJI says the Osmo Pocket 4P is its first dual-lens gimbal camera. The wide camera uses a 20mm-equivalent f/2.0 lens and a 1-inch CMOS sensor; the second camera is a 60mm-equivalent f/1.8 medium-telephoto module. That pairing gives a solo creator a wide establishing shot and a tighter framing option without changing cameras or attaching an external lens.

The telephoto camera is the practical difference from a typical single-lens pocket gimbal. A 60mm view is useful when a face, detail or product needs more separation from the background. DJI rates the camera for 3x optical zoom and up to 12x zoom, though the cleanest results will come from staying closer to the optical range rather than treating the device like a long-zoom camera.

What DJI is pitching to filmmakers

For video work, DJI lists 10-bit D-Log 2 colour, up to 17 stops of dynamic range and 4K/240fps slow motion. D-Log 2 is aimed at people who intend to grade their material later; it is less important for quick social clips, but more useful when the 4P is being matched with footage from a larger camera.

The physical design is familiar to anyone who has used a Pocket camera: a small three-axis mechanical gimbal sits above a rotating touchscreen and handle. DJI also lists ActiveTrack 8, a claimed 230g weight, an 80% charge in 18 minutes and up to 210 minutes of operating time. Those figures are manufacturer claims and will vary with shooting mode, temperature and accessories.

Why the wider rollout is worth watching

The camera is arriving as small creator cameras are being asked to cover more than casual vlogging. A travel shooter may want a wide street scene and a tighter portrait on the same walk; a one-person production may need stabilised footage without bringing a full camera cage. The 4P’s dual-lens design is DJI’s answer to that flexibility problem.

There are still trade-offs. A pocket gimbal is easier to carry than an interchangeable-lens camera, but it cannot offer the same lens choices, ergonomics or low-light headroom as a larger system. The 4P also has a more specialised audience than a phone camera: the value is in the gimbal, colour workflow and second focal length, not just resolution.

What to check before buying

Regional availability is the headline, but prospective buyers should confirm the local kit, price, warranty coverage and included accessories. They should also compare the 4P with the standard Osmo Pocket 4 and with a phone-based gimbal setup. For creators who regularly switch between wide coverage and close framing, the second lens may be the upgrade that makes the 4P make sense. For quick clips, a simpler pocket camera may still be enough.

DJI first previewed the Osmo Pocket 4P at Cannes in May and later outlined the product’s specifications in its launch materials. The broader retail rollout gives buyers outside the initial market the chance to decide whether that dual-lens approach is useful in their own workflow.
