Gears of War: E-Day Beta Opens Today: Dates, Access and Rewards

Gears of War: E-Day opens its early-access beta today, August 6, at 12 p.m. PT. The first weekend runs through August 10, and a second open weekend follows next week for all players.

The beta is an early chance to test E-Day multiplayer ahead of the game’s October 6 launch. The Coalition says the test includes the new Horde Siege mode and 4v4 Versus, alongside rewards that carry forward for participating players.

Early-access beta dates and access

• Early access: August 6, 12 p.m. PT through August 10, 10 a.m. PT.
• Who gets in first: players who pre-order the game on Xbox Series X|S or Steam, plus Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass members.
• Public beta: August 13, 12 p.m. PT through August 17, 10 a.m. PT, with no pre-order required.

On Xbox consoles, online multiplayer requires Game Pass Essentials or a higher tier. On PC, the beta is available through Steam and the Xbox app. The official guidance also notes that Windows PC players should install the current Game Ready or Radeon drivers before joining.

What is in the test

Horde Siege and 4v4 Versus are the central modes, with the beta intended to put the game’s multiplayer foundations in players’ hands before launch. The Coalition also lists five in-game rewards for taking part, including the Blast Damage Mags character skin and the Crush the Bug weapon skin set.

To find the build, look for Gears Beta in the Xbox app or on Steam. The Coalition says players should check its support notes for known issues and platform-specific troubleshooting before they start.

This is a beta, not the full launch

The test is limited in time and content; it is not early access to the full campaign. Gears of War: E-Day is scheduled to launch October 6 for Xbox Series X|S, PC and eligible Game Pass plans, according to Xbox Wire.
