Game Freak’s Beast of Reincarnation Launches Today on PS5 and Game Pass

Game Freak’s Beast of Reincarnation is out today, August 4, 2026. The new action RPG has launched on PlayStation 5, with an Xbox Game Pass release that puts it on Xbox Series X|S, PC, cloud and handheld devices for eligible subscribers on day one.

The publisher’s official Japanese site marks the title as on sale today and lists PS5 as its platform. Xbox’s official Game Pass lineup separately confirms the August 4 arrival for Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. That makes this a notable launch for Game Freak, the studio best known for the Pokémon series, with a new world and original cast rather than one of its established franchises.

A new world built around Emma and Koo

Beast of Reincarnation is set in a post-apocalyptic Japan in the year 4026. Its central pair is Emma, an outcast whose exposure to “blight” gives her unusual plant-based powers, and Koo, a companion described by the official material as a blighted dog. The two travel across a world where overgrown forests and powerful creatures have overtaken the landscape.

Game Freak and Xbox frame the game as a “one-person, one-dog” action RPG. The hook is the relationship between real-time sword combat and Koo’s command abilities. Emma handles direct attacks, while players can trigger Koo’s skills from a menu that slows the action, creating room to assess the encounter rather than relying entirely on reflexes.

What the launch includes

On PS5, the official product page lists a standard edition and a Digital Deluxe Edition, and notes PS5 Pro enhancements. Xbox’s July Game Pass announcement lists the game for cloud, Xbox Series X|S, handheld and PC on August 4, with access through Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass.

The release arrives with Game Freak positioning the title as a distinct action-RPG project: a bleak sci-fi Japan, an unusual two-character combat structure and a story built around the pair’s journey toward the source of the blight. It is a different proposition from the collectible-monster games most closely associated with the studio.
