Helldivers 2’s Devoid of Liberty Update Adds the SEAF Squad
Helldivers 2’s free Devoid of Liberty update is out on Xbox, adding a command-ready SEAF Squad, new enemy variants, four emotes and new player titles.
Helldivers 2’s Devoid of Liberty update is now available on Xbox, adding a new war-front area, new enemy variants and a four-member SEAF Squad designed to support players in the field.
Xbox Wire describes Devoid of Liberty as a strange new region on the Galactic map, where the Illuminate’s war front has expanded. The update introduces enemy variants with new weapons and attacks, while the SEAF team arrives with a wider range of weapons and armor.
A new SEAF team joins the fight
The update’s headline addition is the SEAF Squad. Xbox says these squadmates can take commands from a Helldiver, follow players to objectives and provide morale support. The named lineup includes Squad Leader C. Zhang, Medic STIMmothy, Rifleman A. Aaronson and Specialist B. Devaux.
Each character has a defined role. Zhang uses a Liberator and radio pack; STIMmothy carries the stim pistol; Aaronson is a standard rifleman; and Devaux brings an MG-43 Machine Gun and EAT launcher.
Emotes and new titles
Devoid of Liberty also adds four emotes and a new set of titles for players advancing into the update’s new frontier. Xbox says the update is available at no additional cost for Xbox players.
This is a gameplay update rather than a new standalone release, but it meaningfully changes a match’s on-the-ground support options by adding new squadmates to the fight.
