Pokémon Pokopia Passes 5 Million Sales as DLC Arrives
Nintendo and The Pokémon Company say Pokémon Pokopia has sold more than five million copies worldwide, as the first Expansion Pass wave adds Bubbly Basin.
Pokémon Pokopia has passed five million copies sold worldwide, according to a new announcement from The Pokémon Company and Nintendo. The milestone covers the Nintendo Switch 2 game, which launched in March.
A rapid rise from launch
The new sales announcement follows the companies’ March 12 release, which said Pokémon Pokopia had sold more than 2.2 million units in its first four days, including one million in Japan. The latest update confirms the total has now moved beyond five million.
The companies have not used the announcement to provide a country-by-country breakdown or an active-player count. It is best understood as a cumulative sales milestone, not a measure of current audience activity.
The first expansion wave is part of the moment
Nintendo’s official product page lists Bubbly Basin as the first part of Pokémon Pokopia’s paid Expansion Pass, available in August 2026. The new area adds an underwater town, more Pokémon, furniture and outfits; players must first meet the game’s listed progression requirements before they can access it.
Pokémon Pokopia is a Nintendo Switch 2 life-simulation game in which a Ditto restores a world with help from other Pokémon. It was planned and co-developed by The Pokémon Company, GAME FREAK and KOEI TECMO GAMES, according to Nintendo’s product page.
Why the milestone matters
Five million sales makes the game a significant Switch 2 release in its own right. For players deciding whether to buy the base game or expansion content, Nintendo’s product page remains the best place to check regional availability, DLC terms and the latest requirements.
